Store Opening

I've decided to start selling some inventory.  Right now I'll just have a couple things for sale like prints but I'll be adding other items later as I sort through what I have.

First on the list is a etching I did recently during the open studio at Fleischer.

Marty Martian

Marty was fascinated by monsters, everything monster.  He delighted in fright.  He surrounded himself in his own creations and made movies with his monster manifestations.  Marty found solace in the monster masks he'd make for himself and he wore them every where he went, even to the grocery store.  He lived in a small town in rural Minnesota.  Eventually the locals started calling him 'Marty Martian'.  He didn't mind much, he mostly found it be a bit humorous and fitting.  Marty didn't take himself very seriously fortunately but eventually began to loose touch with 'boring' people as he called them; that's basically anyone who hasn't him or his monsters.  One day Marty the Martian quit going to school and started growing his own vegetables.

The Honeymooners

(The Honeymooners. 4x20". graphite and ink on arches paper. 2009)

The newly weds gazed from their island resort balcony onto a fantastic sea of meshing visuals, ebbing and flowing in waves of lucidity, but as they looked at each other in the dream they felt a sense of uncertainty about whether or not it was they who were dreaming their dream or if they were merely the spectators in the dream of some one else?

Studio Visit

'Please come in.  Thank you for coming to visit.  Would you like something to drink?  A glass of shiraz, tea?'

'Yes these are some of the things I'm working on now.  This is a collaborative book I'm drawing in with Joy Payton.  Here is a painting of some astronauts examining alien plant life.  Yes this is a monster devouring humans.  Oh these are sketches for a painting commission I'm starting.
Oh yes these are some of the etching plates I have going.  Here are the proofs so far...'

'Yeah, it was good to see you too.  Thank you for coming.'

When in Rome

Here's a 1st state of a etching I'm working on right now based on a Sphinx Fox piece; a collaborative duo with Joy Payton.

I've come up with a list of clever titles for it.  Haven't decided which one I like best yet?

*When in Rome.

*Fish out of water.

*The fish who tried to fly.

*A fish in birdland.

*The grass is always greener until you finally get there and realize you're not physiologically designed to live there.

Orange October

During October I was carrying around this horizontally designed book to keep my thoughts and idea's in.  It's a hand stitched binding in coptic and covered in orange buckrum.  Here's where my head's been this past month:
